In South Australia, the vine pull in the mid 1980's saw the removal of an iconic Watervale vineyard, Leasinhgam Wines '300 acre block'. Located in the hills above Leasingham, this vineyard was partially re-planted in 1999 and has re-emerged as St Clare vineyard.
With its unique combination of terroir and a soil profile of red soil over deep limestone, this vineyard produces some of the finest fruit in the Clare Valley.
St Clare's elevated site allows the evening breeze to cool the grapes which is essential for quality wine production, particularly riesling. The shiraz vines have been dry grown since 2009 resulting in small, concentrated berries which are bursting with flavour.
